Diane is a member of the Outer Heaven Resistance, performing intelligence duties for the group. During Operation Intrude N313, she allied with Solid Snake, divulging to him what she knew about the fortress nation's military capability.
She had a companion named Steve, who would answer the radio when she wasn't available (often accusing Snake of flirting with her).

History
Sometime before the Outer Heaven Uprising, Diane was the vocalist of "Thin Wall", a punk band.
By the time of the uprising, Diane had amassed a large amount of intelligence on Outer Heaven's military, including the weaknesses of Machinegun Kid, Coward Duck, the Hind-D, the Tank, the location of pitfalls, and the antidote to Desert Scorpions sting.
After infiltrating Outer Heaven, Solid Snake rescued a POW who told him Diane's radio frequency, 120.33. Snake contacted her several times throughout the mission, asking for help in defeating those enemies.
During the encounter with Coward Duck, Diane gave Snake advice on how to defeat the terrorist without harming the hostages, amongst them Jennifer's brother.
Snake called Diane during his showdown with Big Boss, but she didn't have any information for him. However, she revealed her affection for Snake and wished him good luck. It's unknown if she survived Outer Heaven's self-destruct sequence.
