Jennifer

Jennifer is a member of Outer Heaven's medical staff. She is also an Outer Heaven Resistance member, with access to the group's underground supply chain.

During the course of Operation: Intrude N313, Jennifer provided Solid Snake with radio support and supplies.

History

Prior to the Outer Heaven Uprising, Jennifer's older brother was imprisoned by Outer Heaven. In order to rescue him, she infiltrated the fortress nation by joining its medical staff.

During Operation: Intrude N313, Solid Snake infiltrated Outer Heaven Building 2's second floor. While there, he rescued a POW who told him Jennifer's radio frequency. The prisoner warned Snake that Jennifer would only communicate with him once he'd saved many POWs. Once Snake rescued enough prisoners, Jennifer provided him with the Rocket Launcher and the Compass, both located in the same area.

When Snake entered the 100th floor basement of Outer Heaven Building 3, Jennifer told Snake that he wouldn't be able to proceed until retrieving Card 8, which was located at the end of the canal at Building 2. She also told Snake the location of the Oxygen Tank required to cross the canal, which was also located behind a hidden wall in the Building 3 basement.

Once Snake reached the end of the canal, he encountered Coward Duck, who was holding several hostages, including Jennifer's brother. At this point, Jennifer informed Snake that in order to acquire Card 8, he would have to defeat Duck. She also threatened to stop helping Snake if her brother died.

Fortunately, Snake was able to defeat Duck and rescue her brother. In return for the rescue, he told Snake how to escape Big Boss's lair.

Once Snake was outside Metal Gear's hangar, Jennifer told him to quickly run across the electrified floor, as there was no way to disable it.

Snake called Jennifer during his showdown with Big Boss; she told him to smoke his cigarettes to gain an advantage. It's unknown if she and her brother survived Outer Heaven's self-destruct sequence.

Gameplay

Jennifer will not accept calls from the player unless they have a four-star Class. However, once the player has collected the Rocket Launcher and the Compass from her, her assistance is no longer necessary to complete the game; Thus, killing prisoners (including her brother) will not softlock the game.

Behind the scenes

As with the rest of the illustrations in Metal Gear's original manual, it's suspected that Jennifer's portrait was drawn by the same artist responsible for Nemesis 2's manual.
